Comic Recap/Thoughts: Batgirl Volume No. 1: Beyond Burnside, Part 1

Wow, we are getting deeper into January of 2022 and that means more Bat-Family fun with one of my favorite ladies, Barbara Gordon, aka, Batgirl. The volume I am covering this week is Batgirl Volume 1: Beyond Burnside , it contains issues #1-6. Batgirl doesn't have a Rebirth #1 issue because her story reset about two-thirds of the way through the New 52 and into the DC You run of comics. So while this is the first Batgirl Rebirth volume it is also kind of the fourth volume in her Burnside storyline. For the sake of keeping my blog posts short and reasonable this post is going to cover issues #1-3. Beyond Burnside Part 1 : In Naha, Okinawa, Japan, a girl who is dressed like a Japanese school girl is beating up on guys. She appears to be looking for a formula. She is speaking Japanese but the guy she is attacking doesn't. Batgirl arrives speaking Japanese (because of course she can) and our school girl asks BG who she is, giving our girl the chance to tell us she is Batgirl! Twen

Comic Recap/Thoughts: Superman Volume 2: Trials of the Super Son, Part 2

Happy Super Friday! Or should it be Super Happy Friday? Either way it is time again to see what Jon the super son is up to. This volume covers issues #7-13, this part 2 is just going to cover issues #10 & 11. I was going to include the Annual #1 because it came out between #11 and #12, but it makes more sense to cover later and was published with volume 3, so look forward to that later. In the Name of the Father, Part 1: World's Smallest: Jon is in class with his buddy Kathy. A bully creeps on Kathy but the teacher intervenes. Jon tells her to laugh it off but it is clear she is not happy. Jon collides with a young girl. (I actually know who she is because I did read all the New 52 Bat family stuff.) Kathy asks who she is but she just says she is Nobody and is just running an errand for her little brother. (This is kind of cute because Nobody, aka Maya, is a past enemy

Comic Recap/Thoughts: Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps: Volume 1: Sinestro's Law Part 2

Welcome to part 2 of this recap of Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps: Volume 1: Sinestro's Law. In this recap I am going to be covering issues #4-7. We left off with Hal getting his butt kicked by some over powered Sinestro Corps. Sinestro's Law Part 4: The Fear Engine: On Warworld all of the Sinestro Corps are chanting, "Sinestro's Might" over and over. They are carrying a construct of a coffin and are about to present it to Sinestro. Lyssa is congratulating Sinestro as one member of the Corps reports that five Yellow Lanterns died but they got him. Lo and behold, they remove the construct and it is not Hal, but our good pal Guy that these Yellows have captured. Obviously Sinestro is pissed. These Yellows didn't even know about Hal; they were just bringing a Green Lantern that they ran into. Sinestro being the smart guy that he is begins to deduce that if not only is Hal back, but Guy as well that means...Guy gets to interrupt the monologue with a joke
