My Comic Book Journey

Sharebear: I am a huge fan of all things DC. I have read so many comics and I thought it might be fun to recap and write some of my thoughts about these comics.

Comic Recap/Thoughts: The Flash Volume 1: Lightning Strikes Twice

Welcome to the next installment of my comic book journey through DC's Rebirth. Today I will be recapping and discussing The Flash Volume 1: Lightning Strikes Twice. This collected volume includes issues #1-8 and The Flash: Rebirth #1. This is going to be a long post since we are covering nine issues. I will try to keep it a reasonable length, but no promises. The Flash: Rebirth #1: We start at the scene of a crime. Two cops are speculating over the body. It is a woman and her young son saw the murder. He claims it was a monster. They assume it was the husband. Barry is standing in the doorway. (The artist did a cool trick where his shadow looks like the outline of The Flash.) He cautions the cops to not jump to conclusions. The detective apologizes and Barry quickly forgives him. His boss, Director Singh, does not think Barry should be working this case. Singh is worried he will make it too personal, but Barry disagrees claiming that if someone like him had handled his mother...

Comic Recap/Thoughts: Justice League Vol. 2: Outbreak, Part 2

Happy Friday! Today I am covering the rest of Justice League Vol. 2: Outbreak , more specifically issues #8-11! If you still need to read part one of this recap, you can find the link at the bottom of this post. I am just going to jump right in because I want to keep this post to a reasonable length. Outbreak, Part One: In the Watchtower, Cyborg is reminding us that back in volume one, the JL was dealing with some giants called the Kindred and even though there was a lot of mayhem and destruction, only one life was lost. In the Batcave Bruce is also feeling the burden of that one death. Cyborg is watching news coverage of the funeral, but he can see some code that shouldn't be there. It jumps from the TV into Cyborg at the same time something is hacking the Bat-computer. All the vehicles in the Batcave start shooting, but Batman is quick enough to get Alfred out of the way. One of the Bat-planes activates surface to air missiles, but Batman is able to take it down. Same with the B...

Comic Recap/Thoughts: Superman Volume 2: Trials of the Super Son, Part 2

Happy Super Friday! Or should it be Super Happy Friday? Either way it is time again to see what Jon the super son is up to. This volume covers issues #7-13, this part 2 is just going to cover issues #10 & 11. I was going to include the Annual #1 because it came out between #11 and #12, but it makes more sense to cover later and was published with volume 3, so look forward to that later. If you still need to read part 1 of this volume check out the link at the bottom of this post. Onto my recap! In the Name of the Father, Part 1: World's Smallest: Jon is in class with his buddy Kathy. A bully creeps on Kathy but the teacher intervenes. Jon tells her to laugh it off but it is clear she is not happy. Jon collides with a young girl. (I actually know who she is because I did read all the New 52 Bat family stuff.) Kathy asks who she is but she just says she is Nobody and is just running an errand for her little brother. (This is kind of cute because Nobody, aka Maya, is a past enemy...
