Comic Recap/Thoughts: Nightwing Volume No. 1: Better Than Batman, Part 3

We have wrapped up all that Monster Men business click ( here ) if you still need to check that out. Now it is time to wrap up Nightwing's first volume, Nightwing: Better Than Batman . If you want to check out ( part 1 ) and ( part 2 ), click those links! Today I am covering issues 7 & 8 to finish off this volume. I'll be back next week with some Justice League fun, but for now let's see what Nightwing and his cute butt are up to. Rise of Raptor, Part 1: Nightwing wants a break from Gotham, so he is in Sydney, Australia with his old Spyral pal, Tiger King. They are about to make a bust on some more members of the Parliament of Owls. In a high rise a rich family who are clearly part of the Owls, are having dinner and chatting with their attorney about how they will avoid getting arrested. Nightwing is narrating, reminding us how Raptor got him the info on the Owls membership. (Remember that Raptor also sold that information to Kobra) The waiter serving the rich family i...

Comic Recap/Thoughts: The Flash Volume 1: Lightning Strikes Twice

Welcome to the next installment of my comic book journey through DC's Rebirth. Today I will be recapping and discussing The Flash Volume 1: Lightning Strikes Twice. This collected volume includes issues #1-8 and The Flash: Rebirth #1. This is going to be a long post since we are covering nine issues. I will try to keep it a reasonable length, but no promises. The Flash: Rebirth #1: We start at the scene of a crime. Two cops are speculating over the body. It is a woman and her young son saw the murder. He claims it was a monster. They assume it was the husband. Barry is standing in the doorway. (The artist did a cool trick where his shadow looks like the outline of The Flash.) He cautions the cops to not jump to conclusions. The detective apologizes and Barry quickly forgives him. His boss, Director Singh, does not think Barry should be working this case. Singh is worried he will make it too personal, but Barry disagrees claiming that if someone like him had handled his mother...

Guest Recap By Lauren Carr! The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Volume 1: Squirrel Power

Happy Friday! I am excited to announce my first ever guess recap. Lauren was happy to recap her favorite comic! I have also read this comic because of her recommendation and let me tell you, while I am a hard core DC fan. This comic really pulled me in and I think this recap might do the same for you! Hi there! Shari has been kind enough to let me take over her blog for a guest post. I chose to recap the first volume of The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl: Squirrel Power from Marvel. This series is a great place to start to get introduced to the Marvel universe, as well as to get those feelings of pure friendship and love we all need and crave. As someone who only had knowledge of the Marvel universe via the movies prior to reading this series, I was pleasantly surprised at how in-depth the Marvel education and know-how was. I hope everyone enjoys Squirrel Girl’s adventures as much as I do. Issue 1: We start this issue, and Squirrel Girl’s whole story, with shots of her singing her own them...
