Comic Recap/Thoughts: Nightwing Volume No. 1: Better Than Batman, Part 3

We have wrapped up all that Monster Men business click ( here ) if you still need to check that out. Now it is time to wrap up Nightwing's first volume, Nightwing: Better Than Batman . If you want to check out ( part 1 ) and ( part 2 ), click those links! Today I am covering issues 7 & 8 to finish off this volume. I'll be back next week with some Justice League fun, but for now let's see what Nightwing and his cute butt are up to. Rise of Raptor, Part 1: Nightwing wants a break from Gotham, so he is in Sydney, Australia with his old Spyral pal, Tiger King. They are about to make a bust on some more members of the Parliament of Owls. In a high rise a rich family who are clearly part of the Owls, are having dinner and chatting with their attorney about how they will avoid getting arrested. Nightwing is narrating, reminding us how Raptor got him the info on the Owls membership. (Remember that Raptor also sold that information to Kobra) The waiter serving the rich family i...

Comic Recap/Thoughts: The Flash Volume 1: Lightning Strikes Twice

Welcome to the next installment of my comic book journey through DC's Rebirth. Today I will be recapping and discussing The Flash Volume 1: Lightning Strikes Twice. This collected volume includes issues #1-8 and The Flash: Rebirth #1. This is going to be a long post since we are covering nine issues. I will try to keep it a reasonable length, but no promises. The Flash: Rebirth #1: We start at the scene of a crime. Two cops are speculating over the body. It is a woman and her young son saw the murder. He claims it was a monster. They assume it was the husband. Barry is standing in the doorway. (The artist did a cool trick where his shadow looks like the outline of The Flash.) He cautions the cops to not jump to conclusions. The detective apologizes and Barry quickly forgives him. His boss, Director Singh, does not think Barry should be working this case. Singh is worried he will make it too personal, but Barry disagrees claiming that if someone like him had handled his mother...

Comic Recap/Thoughts: Justice League Vol. 2: Outbreak, Part 2

Happy Friday! Today I am covering the rest of Justice League Vol. 2: Outbreak , more specifically issues #8-11! If you still need to read part one of this recap, you can find the link at the bottom of this post. I am just going to jump right in because I want to keep this post to a reasonable length. Outbreak, Part One: In the Watchtower, Cyborg is reminding us that back in volume one, the JL was dealing with some giants called the Kindred and even though there was a lot of mayhem and destruction, only one life was lost. In the Batcave Bruce is also feeling the burden of that one death. Cyborg is watching news coverage of the funeral, but he can see some code that shouldn't be there. It jumps from the TV into Cyborg at the same time something is hacking the Bat-computer. All the vehicles in the Batcave start shooting, but Batman is quick enough to get Alfred out of the way. One of the Bat-planes activates surface to air missiles, but Batman is able to take it down. Same with the B...
